Moses – The Reluctant Leader IV

Is God calling you to Him today?

The next major incident in Moses’ life is his encounter with God at the burning bush, where God calls Moses to go to Egypt and bring His people out. Moses was now about 80 years old. Moses had fled to the land of Midian, after killing the Egyptian. It was here; in the land of Midian he helped the daughters of Jethro by rescuing them from some bandits. In gratitude, Jethro gave the hand of his daughter Zipporah to Moses, and thus became his father-in-law. Nearly 40 years later, Moses had a face-to-face meeting with God at the burning bush.

Encounters with God change our lives completely. A true encounter will impact our lives in such a way that we will never be the same again. Here are two things we need to look at closely.

The first is that it is never too late to begin doing exploits for God. At 80 years it seems most of us have been retired and have found something very sedentary to do. But not with Moses, or anybody for that matter who has a desire to do something for God.

God is very aware of your life, and just as Moses was led to the ‘backside of the desert’ that day, God will lead you gently by the hand to the place and time that He needs to speak with you face-to-face.

The second powerful fact that comes out of this passage is that there was something so supernatural with the bush that burned, which made Moses want to investigate and come closer to the bush.

Today, God is calling you closer to Him than you have ever been before. Will you come?

If you come, and come willingly, through every challenge you have, God Himself will provide a way forward. Remember Moses had many excuses when God called his name. But God gave Moses an answer and a remedy for each of his questions and inadequacies.

You may find it hard to accept everything that God had spoken to you in the past. But God has all the remedies, the provisions and the power behind His Word and Promises. He will accomplish more than that which you are able to do.

Come, let us trust Him today. Its never too late! God will clear out the clutter and make your path straight to finish that which He has given you to do. When God attracts you, the world cannot keep up to that!

Moses – The Reluctant Leader III

When God’s purposes are done in human ways, the consequences are always difficult.

As Moses grows into adulthood, he finds out that he actually is an Israelite. He did not like the way his own people were treated and fed. So Moses desired to free them his own way.

Now you must remember that Moses grew up in the house of Pharaoh. He knew his battle strategies. He was well learned in the ways of the Egyptians.

But now he begins to identify with the plight of his people, and upon witnessing an Egyptian beating a Hebrew slave, Moses intrudes and kills the Egyptian.

Then later in another instance, Moses attempts to mediate in a dispute between two Hebrews, but one of the Hebrews rebukes Moses and mockingly comments, “Are you going to kill me as you did the Egyptian?” (Exodus 2:14). Soon realizing that his criminal act was made known to everybody around, Moses flees to the land of Midian. Is there something God has told you to do? How you long for things to happen, but somehow it is taking so much time.

Do you feel that things are just dragging along and this is resulting in dissatisfaction and frustration in your spirit?

Well, all of us have passed this way before.

So firstly, today begin to see God’s greater plan for your life. Begin to look at the big picture rather than just a small happening. Remember God has called you. In John 15:16, Jesus says…Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. Being fruitful is your entitlement. It has been given to you as an inheritance from heaven.

Secondly, commit everything you desire to do or are already doing into God’s hands. Trust Him to show you which one of them you need to be doing and what you must put aside.

Finally, there is one more thing that is important. Are there any ‘hidden’ things in your life that you have buried ages ago. Some things that you would not want to remember or even others to know?

Well, today is the day to come clean before God. Not run away as Moses did. There was a day that Moses had to come back to Pharaoh and face him again. Therefore you must be strong. Go to your Pastor or someone you trust to pray some of these issues out of your life. If we look at the life of Moses, God’s dealing were still not finished with him. We all have a long way to go, but we must begin somewhere to take this tremendous journey with God that will last all our lives.

Many times it is very difficult for us to release or let go of the things we deem precious.

The decree made by the Pharaoh of Egypt at that time was that all Israelite sons that were born would be thrown into the river Nile. The sacrificing of babies especially sons, were a heathen practice that brought appeasement from their gods. The Nile crocodile was also worshipped as one of the gods of the Egyptians.

Due to this decree there were two profitable things for the Pharaoh’s kingdom. Firstly, the sons of Egypt were not sacrificed, and secondly the Israelites would have no ‘seed’ for successors. This means that with no men born in the household would eventually weaken the household and thus stop their multiplication so they would remain slaves all their lives.

So we see in today’s reading that Mosses’ mother could no longer keep this ‘goodly child’ and she did what was very difficult for her. Let go her son!

Here’s the key.

Moses’ mother saw that Moses was a ‘goodly child’. Moses had that ‘something’ in him that would bring change to a nation from 400 years of slavery. What she saw was by faith.

You must remember that the enemy has strategies to both to weaken you and eventually nullify you. Today, you must do two things that can change your life!

1. Use your faith to ‘see’ what God has given you. Remember what you have inside you has the capacity to change your circumstances and challenge the strategies of the enemy.

2. Learn to let go! By keeping what you have, no matter how precious that is, it will not help you or anyone else around you. As you let go, God can use that which you let go to flourish and bring your circumstances to profit.

In 1 John 4:4, the Bible says that ‘Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world’ You must know that God is not only with you but lives in you, and today you have the authority to ‘see’ your future in God. You have the ability to overcome the enemy. You have the victory inside you.

When Moses’ mother released Moses, the miraculous took place. When you release that which you must, expect your miracle today and walk away with the necks of your enemies under your foot!

“God always brings you to a place already prepared for you”

We first meet Moses in the Book of Exodus. We are introduced to him in the second chapter of this wonderful book. The book of Exodus forms a foundation of how God teaches us the ways of life here on earth.

Before the birth of Moses, a great revolution took place in his people as well in the rulership of the land. The Israelites went through a time of blessing at first, as the verse above indicates. That then changed drastically. Suddenly there were taskmasters over the people and sinister plans of the killing of male children were taking place. It is in this scenario that Moses enters.

When we are born we have no choice in the circumstances we are exposed to. Sometimes it is no fault of ours as to why situations are either so difficult or challenging. Some of us have good families that we are born into, but others are not so fortunate.

This actually does not matter at all. Why?

Simply because God is fully in control at all times!

God is the Chief Orchestrator of everything that goes on in our lives. All we must do is submit to His plans and understand our season and time. Then we can rest assured that He will make all things beautiful in His time!

Our upbringing and environments do not matter, our heart and attitudes to life do. So difficulties and problems do not determine the outcome of our lives.

Today let God open your heart and deal with your past and the mind-sets the past has deposited deep within you. Ask the Father to set you free and walk away from your circumstances into a fresh journey with God today and in the future.

Dissispelskap – Hou vas aan Sy Woord

leave a comment »

with one comment

06 Junie 2016

Exodus 23:20 – “Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep and guard you on the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.”

Exodus 33:14 – “And the Lord said, My Presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Soek God se teenwoordigheid in jou lewe.
